Someone is diagnosed with diabetes every two minutes.

Diabetes Awareness Day is November 14TH.. This date was chosen as it marks the birthday of the man who discovered insulin – Frederick Banting. Together with Charles Best he discovered insulin  in 1922.

It is on the increase across the world, not just the UK. More and more children are also being diagnosed with this potentially debilitating illness. Unless it is managed properly it can lead to sight problems, gastric problems, ulcerations (which can lead to amputation) and blood pressure problems.

A healthy diet, exercise and weight management can all help to prevent and manage the condition.
