LOCAL LION RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS AWARD FOR SERVICE

Lions international recognise special achievements and above and beyond service by awarding “A Melvin Jones Fellowship” named after the founder of Lions clubs international – Melvin Jones.

Lions Clubs world-wide recognise outstanding individuals by bestowing on them this award. The award is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideals consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism.

Bexhill Lions club for the first time in its history has chosen to present such an award to Lion Richard Winrow.  This was presented at a recent Lions gathering and Lion Richard said that he was “surprised and honoured” to be awarded this prestigious recognition of duty and dedication to Lions activities.

Richard has held many posts with the Lions family including President, Zone chairman, and more recently Region Chairman.

He was recognised by the club for his activities within the Bexhill community using his networking and communication skills to benefit individuals and charities with both money and resource in order to improve lives and communities.

Past President Rick Hough said, “Richard’s tireless efforts have enhanced our club activities and enabled the club to be even more effective within the community”.

Bexhill Lions club members wished Richard hearty congratulations for his achievements.
